I am coming to you this week feeling much more grounded, centered, and alive. It is a combination of things, really. I’ve been slowly integrating the Spring Clean (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MESDeLOVhvxmAkX4alVAmtjJoY6FOqIG4-yxTO7LAow/edit?usp=drive_link) changes I wanted to make this month—increasing life-force foods, adding bitters and sours to my palate, and intentionally spending time outdoors.
The weather has certainly helped. I’ve enjoyed earthing lately—walking barefoot with the purpose of connecting with the earth’s energy and resetting my own internal space.
I’ve also worked through some heavy-ish transitions this week. I am quickly approaching my last day at my day job. Starting in May, I will be focusing solely on Two Hearts Healing. But what that really means is that I am finally focusing solely on you.
Every motherhood journey is a sacred path, often filled with steep climbs and quiet valleys. You are the one doing the brave, heart-centered work of carrying, birthing, and raising the next generation. But even the most resilient mother isn’t meant to walk this path in isolation. My role is to walk beside you as a companion and a holder of the space—providing the tools and the energetic clearing you need to move out of survival mode and into your own steady strength. I am here to help you find your footing so you can flourish in your own rhythm.
** The Ground Beneath my Feet
————————————————————
Last Saturday, I was at the Pregnancy and Baby Expo in Rutland, VT. I had such a wonderful time meeting many of you! To the newcomers: Welcome. I am so glad you’re here.
Because Rutland is three hours away, I had six hours of quiet drive time. I spent it listening to the most beautiful podcast called At Her Feet (https://podcastaddict.com/podcast/at-her-feet/5949889) , hosted by Blyss Young (https://bridgemidwives.com/) . As I listened to traditional elder midwives share their wisdom, something in me woke up. I remembered my original passion for birth. I felt a deep, central connection to all women birthing through all generations of time.
The following morning was cold but beautiful—29 degrees with the grass just turning green. I felt a pull to go out barefoot. I found the sunny patches, breathed in the new life, and watched the sun sparkle on the melting frost. As I stood there, I named my maternal lineage out loud:
“I am Heather Lee, daughter of Judith Elaine, granddaughter of Carol Jean & Alta Deloris (Rosie), great granddaughter of Irene Pearl, Polly Ann, Gladys Evadna, and Edith Mabel. I am mother of Christabelle Lee and Isabella Rose Elaine (Rosie), grandmother of Eliza Jane.”
These beautiful women are my heritage. They gave birth before me, and the line continues through me. I am forever grateful to my mother for the way her own fears and traumas led her to choose a different path. After two unwelcome hospital experiences where she felt ignored and medicated, she chose homebirth. That unintentional act of love gave me the opportunity to see birth and sparked something eternal in me.
** Spring Fluids
————————————————————
Just as I stood on the cold ground to reset my energy, our bodies need a specific kind of thaw this time of year. After the stagnation of winter, we want to balance that heavy Kapha —the slow, damp energy—and support our Liver Qi.
When we think about hydration, we often think about ice-cold water. However, plain, cold water can be a shock to a system that is just beginning to awaken. To support your internal flow, consider these gentle shifts:
* Temperature Matters: Opt for neutral to warm fluids. A glass of warm lemon water before breakfast is one of the best ways to flush the system and wake up the liver.
* Building the Blood: Spring is a time for renewal. To support your blood and energy, look for building teas and warm infusions.
+ Dandelion: A wonderful bitter that supports the liver. I highly recommend Dandy Blend (https://dandyblend.com/) as a caffeine-free drink.
+ Ginger and Cinnamon: These warming spices encourage circulation and help break up any lingering winter dampness.
* Broths: A warm cup of bone or vegetable broth provides the minerals and salts necessary to stabilize your plasma and nourish you at a cellular level.
** Journal Prompt

Take a moment this week to look back at the roots you came from.
“Write a letter to your mother (or about her). How did her birth experiences—her triumphs, her fears, or her traumas—shape your own expectations and feelings about birth?”
