trauma-Informed Perinatal Wellness: An Integrated Approach (2hr)

Heather LeFoll, CBCP, CECP, CLD Founder, Two Hearts Healing

NOTE: This session will take place for one hour before and one hour after the lunch break.

In today’s maternal healthcare landscape—particularly in rural and underserved communities—a significant gap remains in addressing the emotional and psychological needs of expectant mothers. While clinical care often focuses on physical outcomes, unresolved trauma, anxiety, and limited access to support can impact both birth experiences and postpartum wellbeing.

This session introduces a whole-person, trauma-informed approach to perinatal care that integrates traditional labor support with complementary practices aimed at addressing emotional wellbeing. Drawing on real-world experience, the presenter will explore how holistic and community-based support models can help identify and respond to the often “unmet needs” of mothers throughout pregnancy and postpartum.

Participants will learn practical strategies for incorporating trauma-informed communication, strengthening community partnerships, and supporting emotional resilience in maternal health settings. This session will also highlight approaches to bridging care gaps in rural communities and fostering more connected, compassionate systems of support.
